For decades, hair extension professionals have navigated a trade-off: you could have a hand-tied weft that was thin and flexible but couldn't be cut, or a machine-tied weft that could be cut but was too bulky. Every stylist had a wishlist — a weft that was thin like hand-tied, dense enough to add real volume, cuttable to any size, and invisible at the scalp.
Bohyme listened. After extensive collaboration with extension professionals worldwide, they created the Genius Weft.
The name is not marketing. It's a description.
What Is the Bohyme Genius Weft?
The Genius Weft is Bohyme's thinnest, flattest, and lightest weft — engineered to combine the best qualities of the Seamless Weft and the Hand-Tied Weft into a single, revolutionary construction. At just 0.78mm thick, it is virtually invisible at the scalp, even on fine-haired clients.
Here's what makes it genuinely different from everything else:
1. Zero Return Hair
Traditional hand-tied wefts have approximately 1 inch of 'return hair' — hair folded back over itself at the end of the weft. This adds comfort cushioning but also bulk. The Genius Weft has zero return hair. The result is a weft that lies flatter, sits closer to the scalp, and is more comfortable for clients with sensitive scalps.
2. It Can Be Cut — Anywhere
This is the game-changer. Hand-tied wefts must never be cut — doing so causes the thread to unravel, leading to shedding and weft failure. The Genius Weft can be cut to any size along its entire length without fraying or shedding. This gives stylists total control over weft sizing, allowing for precise customization to any head shape, any section, any install.
3. More Dense Than Hand-Tied
Despite being thinner and lighter than hand-tied, the Genius Weft is more dense — meaning more hair per inch of weft length. This is ideal for clients whose primary goal is adding thickness and volume. For clients who want multi-dimensional color blending with layering of multiple shades, hand-tied is still the better choice (its lower density means colors can peek through when wefts are layered).
4. Available in Luxe and Ethos — Two Different Experiences
Bohyme Luxe Genius Weft: The original Genius Weft. Made with 100% Chinese Cuticle Remi Hair, double-drawn, with a 28-day color bath for consistency. Available in Silky Straight and other styles. Weft length ~35" at 16".
Bohyme Ethos Genius Weft: The upgraded version, developed based on direct feedback from professional stylists. Made with 100% Virgin Cuticle Remi® hair from Shangri-La, processed through a 40-day extended color bath. Features 43 unique ashy and platinum tones not available in any other collection. The pinnacle of Genius Weft technology.

Who Is the Genius Weft Best For?
For Clients
- Clients whose primary goal is adding thickness and length (not just length alone)
- Clients with sensitive scalps who struggle with the pressure of return hair from hand-tied wefts
- Fine-haired clients who want a denser result without heavy machine-tied bulk
- Clients who want a weft that adapts precisely to their head shape
For Stylists
- Stylists who want the ability to cut and customize wefts at every appointment
- Those building premium service menus where per-appointment customization is a selling point
- Stylists who do a mix of color blending installs (pair Genius Weft with hand-tied for best of both)
- Any professional wanting to offer the most technically advanced single-weft format on the market
Styles Available in Genius Weft
The Genius Weft is currently available in Bohyme's most popular style:
- Silky Straight — Bohyme's most iconic style, silky smooth with a high-gloss finish
How to Care for Genius Weft Extensions
- Wash every 2–3 days with Bohyme Rejuvenating Shampoo (sulfate-free)
- Brush before and after washing — boar bristle brush, starting at ends, holding hair at attachment row
- Apply Bohyme Leave-In Hair Reconstructor after every wash
- Keep heat away from the weft itself — use lower settings and always apply heat protectant to hair
- Sleep with a loose braid or silk wrap — prevents matting and friction damage at the row
- Schedule move-up appointments every 6–9 weeks

STYLIST NOTE: PAIRING GENIUS WEFT WITH HAND-TIED For clients who want both maximum density AND multi-dimensional color blending, the ideal solution is to mix Genius Weft rows with Hand-Tied rows. The Genius Weft adds thickness; the less-dense Hand-Tied rows allow layered colors to show through. This is one of the most sophisticated install techniques in the Bohyme educator's toolkit. |
Is the Genius Weft better than hand-tied?
Not better — different. Genius Weft is the superior choice when your primary goal is adding thickness and you want full customization control. Hand-Tied is the superior choice when you want to create multi-dimensional color blending with layered wefts, as its lower density allows colors to show through. Many top stylists use both in the same install.
Can I install Genius Weft using the beaded row method?
Yes. Genius Weft is compatible with beaded row installation, sew-in, and other professional weft methods. It is not designed for clip application, which is better suited for Seamless Weft or Clip-Ins.
Where can I get Genius Weft extensions?
Bohyme Genius Weft is available through authorized Bohyme professional accounts and authorized retail partners. It is a professional-grade product and is not sold direct-to-consumer. Find a certified Bohyme stylist at bohyme.com/pages/store-locator.
