How Bohyme Creates Wave Patterns in Human Hair Extensions

Bohyme · The craft of texture

We create Bohyme’s wave patterns by wrapping human hair around different-sized wands, then using heat and steam in temperature-controlled chambers to form the shape. This texture-forming technique creates movement without chemical perming.

A soft S-shaped wave, a tousled bend, a more defined curl: each offers a different starting point for your style. Here is a closer look at the process behind our textured hair extensions—and how to choose the movement you want to wear.

How we shape waves in human hair extensions.

The pattern begins with the form we choose. Our wand-and-steam technique brings the shape of the wrap and controlled heat together.

  1. 01 / THE FORM

    Choose the wand.

We select different-sized wands according to the desired style. The form gives us the shape around which to arrange the hair.

  2. 02 / THE WRAP

    Shape the hair.

We wrap the human hair around the selected wands. This prepares the hair in the shape we want the wave or curl to take.

  3. 03 / HEAT & STEAM

    Form the pattern.

The wrapped hair enters temperature-controlled chambers, where heat is closely monitored. Heat and steam help set the shape without chemical perming.

Different textures. Different expressions of movement.

Texture gives hair its visual rhythm: the spacing of a wave, the shape of a curl, and the way the lengths gather at the ends. Our range gives you more ways to find a starting texture for your everyday look.

Body Wave

A soft S-shaped wave for gentle movement and body through the lengths.

Loose Wave

A more pronounced, tousled wave, with less spiral curl than French Refined.

Beyond a soft wave, our texture range includes more pronounced patterns. Egyptian Wave, Deep Wave and Tight Curl each bring a different shape and character to the finished look.

Look through the full length of the hair when comparing textures. Notice where the pattern begins, how the bends or curls repeat, and how the ends fall. Our Style & Texture Comparison brings the range together, with texture descriptions and a stylist demonstration.

Texture development

French Refined: refining the space between wave and curl.

For Ethos French Refined, we refined our steaming process to create a tousled pattern between Ethos Blended Wave and Ethos Blended Curl. It offers more definition than Blended Wave, with a looser shape than Blended Curl.

Collection changes the expression, too. Luxe French Refined has a more open wave; Ethos French Refined has a more defined, tousled pattern. The shared name invites a closer comparison of the collection and finished texture.

See the photographs and movement comparison in our Ethos French Refined guide, or explore Ethos Hand-Tied French Refined.

Choosing textured hair extensions for the styles you wear.

Start with the finish you enjoy most: soft flowing waves, a tousled look, or more visible curl definition. Bring photographs of your hair in that everyday finish to your stylist, alongside the Bohyme texture you want to explore.

For example, if you want added length while keeping your usual waves, compare the pattern before choosing the final length. Your stylist can assess the blend, placement and shaping needed to bring the look together.

For a fuller curly silhouette, explore the pattern and body shown in our Brazilian Wave photography. Across hair extension styles, texture, quantity and the finishing cut work together to shape the result.

How the wave changes with washing and wear.

Our steam-formed wave patterns can loosen over time through wear and washing. The freshly unpacked texture is a starting reference; care and styling remain part of the look you create.
