Four Weft Types.
One Is Right for Your Client
— Three Are Not.
45 years of engineering. Four formats. The stylist's guide to knowing before the install.
Forty-five years of engineering. Four formats. And one question that should come before every extension install:
It sounds simple. But most stylists learn the answer by process of elimination — after the appointment, not before it. The right weft blends invisibly, moves naturally, and lasts. The wrong one creates problems no amount of skill can fully fix.
This guide exists so you never have to guess.
Here is every weft format in the Bohyme® lineup, what it was built to do, who it's built for, and exactly when to reach for it.
The Weft Series at a Glance
The Bohyme lineup includes four distinct weft formats:
- Hand-Tied Weft — the dimensional color champion
- Machine-Tied Weft — maximum volume, density, and accessibility
- Genius Weft — precision fit and cut-anywhere engineering
- Seamless Weft — built for clients who notice everything
Each one was engineered for a specific outcome. None of them are interchangeable.
Hand-Tied
Weft.
If you have a client who wants balayage extensions — multiple shades, natural depth, lived-in color — the Hand-Tied Weft is not just the best option. It is the only option.
Every other weft format is constructed at a consistent, higher density. That density is excellent for volume, but it blocks layered color from showing through naturally. Hand-Tied Weft is constructed at a deliberately lower density so that dimensional color breathes the way it's supposed to — strand by strand, shade by shade.
One critical rule: Never cut a Hand-Tied Weft. It is engineered to fold at the ends only. Trimming causes unraveling and shedding.
| Construction | Hand-sewn · Strand by strand · 3–5 days to produce |
|---|---|
| Best For | Dimensional color blending + natural movement |
| Cuttable? | Never — fold at ends only. Trimming causes unraveling or shedding. |
| Density | Lower — lets layered shades show through |

Weft.
You know this client. She sits down and says: "I just want it to feel fuller."
Machine-Tied Weft delivers the highest density per row of any format in the Bohyme lineup — and at 30% thinner than industry standard, it achieves that volume without the bulk you'd expect.

Genius Weft.
Engineered.
Genius Weft was built from a specific problem stylists kept raising: cutting a weft, watching it fray, and losing time to sealing at every appointment. Bohyme listened. Then they built the solution.
At 0.78mm, it has a self-sealing edge by design. Cut it anywhere, every appointment, zero fraying. Born from direct stylist collaboration.
| Thickness | 0.78mm — thinnest flat weft Bohyme has built |
|---|---|
| Return Hair | Zero — maximum scalp comfort every install |
| Cut Points | Anywhere — self-sealing edge. No fraying. No sealing. |

Seamless Weft.
Disappears.
She has fine hair. She has tried extensions before and could see them. She either lived with it or stopped wearing them. Seamless Weft was engineered for her.
At 0.8 millimeters, it is the flattest weft in the Bohyme lineup. There is no weft ridge. No shadow against the scalp. No bulk under the hair. It physically cannot be detected.
| 1. Flattest in lineup | 0.8mm — invisible on the finest hair. No ridge, no shadow, no bulk. |
|---|---|
| 2. Stack for volume | Layer multiple pieces in the same row. Maximum volume, minimal weight. |
| 3. Rooted + ombré shades EXCLUSIVE | No other format in the Bohyme lineup offers this. |
| 4. Clip-in compatible ONLY WEFT | The only Bohyme weft compatible without professional installation. |

About Bohyme®
Bohyme was founded in 1978 with one standard: to engineer hair that performs the way a stylist needs it to. Forty-five years later, every format in the lineup reflects the same principle — not the most popular option, but the right one.
"We didn't build Bohyme to be good.
We built it to be the standard."
