Make sense of our shade codes and find the dimension you want to create.
Bohyme hair extension color codes describe both the shades and how they are arranged. M identifies a mixed blend, D layered highlights, H highlighted strands, R a rooted effect and T an ombre transition. Read the complete code alongside the collection and product, then refine your choice with the appropriate Bohyme Color Ring.
Our professional human hair extensions give you room to work with color, movement and dimension. Understanding the full shade identifier helps you bring those choices into the same conversation.
How to read Bohyme hair extension color codes
Begin with the effect you want: a single shade, subtle dimension, visible highlights or a transition from roots to ends. The letters describe the color arrangement; the numbers and shade names identify the combination.
| Reference | What it describes | Example to explore |
|---|---|---|
| Solid | A single shade reference without a named blend or transition. | 1B |
| M | A predominantly solid shade with a secondary color blended through it. | M2/30 |
| D | Layered highlights: one shade placed over another. | D4/BL22 |
| H | Highlighted strands creating contrast through the hair. | H24/BL613 |
| R | A darker root effect combined with color through the lengths. | R4/18/BL22 |
| T | An ombre transition between shades. | T30/16 |
Use our Color Guide to explore the terminology and our Color Chart to see the broader palette. Then confirm the exact option on your selected product.

Read the whole code, not one familiar number
Changing a letter or leaving out part of a code can point to a different color effect. Keep the complete identifier with your collection, texture, construction and length.
M2/30: a mixed blend
M identifies the mixed-blend arrangement; 2 and 30 identify the shades being combined. Compare the finished swatch rather than selecting either number on its own.
R4/18/BL22: a rooted combination
R identifies the rooted effect. Our Color Guide describes this example with a 4 root and an 18/BL22 combination through the lengths. Confirm the transition on the exact product with your stylist.

Why D and H belong in the construction conversation
Our guides distinguish layered highlights from highlighted strands. We identify D layered colors with machine-tied construction, where one color is layered over another. H describes highlighted strands that can create dimension in hand-tied hair.
Compare the color effect with the method your stylist plans to use. Explore Machine-Tied Wefts or the appropriate method, then confirm its current shade, texture and length options. A color reference shows the effect; the product listing confirms the combination offered.
Choose the collection alongside the shade
Ethos has its own color reference. When you are exploring Bohyme Ethos, use the Ethos Color Chart and the appropriate physical reference. For Bohyme Luxe or another collection, confirm that collection's product and shade information.
Similar-looking names on different charts are a starting point for comparison. Review the actual swatches together before deciding which one supports your color plan.

Bring the code into your consultation
If you love darker roots with brighter lengths, describe how you want the transition to look. Then compare rooted, highlighted and ombre options with the areas of your own hair that will sit beside the extensions.
Your stylist can help assess the depth of the root, the brightness of the lengths and the placement of the transition. Ask for product-specific guidance on the root or transition area before ordering.

Your color-order checklist
- Collection: record Ethos, Luxe or the exact Bohyme collection you have chosen.
- Full color code: keep every letter, number and separator.
- Method and texture: confirm the construction and intended finish.
- Length and quantity: check the product's pack contents and have your stylist calculate the order.
- Physical reference: compare the appropriate color ring whenever possible.
Our Collection Comparison and Weft Availability Chart help you narrow the choices. Review the selected listing for current options.
When the hair arrives, check the label against your approved specification and review the seller's opening and return conditions. Raise any discrepancy before altering or installing the hair.
Your color questions, answered.
What does R mean in Bohyme hair colors?
R identifies a rooted color effect. Read the complete combination and compare the actual product with your stylist.
What is the difference between M and H?
M describes a mixed blend with a secondary shade blended through the base. H describes highlighted strands that create contrast. Look at the finished swatches to compare their effect.
Are D and H interchangeable?
No. Our guides distinguish layered color from highlighted strands. Confirm both the effect and construction before ordering.
Does the same number mean the same shade in every brand?
Do not treat another brand’s code as a direct conversion. Confirm the Bohyme collection, complete identifier and actual shade reference.
Can a color code guarantee a match on screen?
No. The code identifies the shade option; photography, lighting and display settings affect its appearance. A physical reference helps refine the match.
