Use of Hair Dyes and Chemical Straighteners Linked to Risk in Breast Cancer

Awareness is Key

The International Journal of Cancer recently published a new study indicating there may be a link in using hair dye and chemical straighteners to risk in breast cancer.

According to the study, “many hair products contain endocrine‐disrupting compounds and carcinogens potentially relevant to breast cancer.” Although there are many outside factors that contribute to a woman’s exposure to breast cancer, it’s important to understand what you can do to limit the risk.

There are many alternatives to using hair dyes and chemical straighteners or to prolong the time between needing them. Some options include not using at-home permanent hair dye and straightening chemicals, opting for semi-permanent or temporary dyes (the study found no increased risk) or using extensions.

Bohyme® Extensions are an excellent alternative to adding color to your natural hair without exposing yourself to the potentially harmful chemicals mentioned in the study. We carry over 100+ colors! Anyone who wants the added dimension can get the look through color blending and mixing different colored wefts. This process also saves coloring time for stylists and reduces the risk of chemical exposure for both the stylist and client.

As a health-conscious company, we have said time and time again how we value preserving the health of our clients' natural hair. Healthy hair has always been our top-most concern. Our extensions are a safe way to enhance the beauty of your hair without having to worry about time-consuming damaging processes.
