inspiration comes from everywhere

As a little girl, Lex was inspired by older cousins who were in the hair industry and her parents would buy her doll heads and old hair styling books as Christmas gifts to learn and play. She enjoyed the art of hair styling and would always do friends' hair for picture day. Today, her husband Leu is also a stylist and inspires her everyday, encouraging her to take big risks in her career. Lex's kids keep her fearless, while her mentor, Garnish Extensions Studio owner Candice Motley, empowers her to break through every glass ceiling. With this mentorship, Lex has learned to focus on the details, creating the best luxury extensions experience possible. Now, she's inspired by changing women's lives through the art of hair extensions, giving them the confidence they need to make bold moves in their lives.

At 15 years old, Lex was a troubled youth, but her mom took a risk and enrolled her in hair school. She attended high school during the day and hair school at night and on Saturdays. Lex credits this schedule with saving her life. At 16, she took her exam and has been a licensed stylist since her senior year of high school. This led to a job with Regis Salons, where she grew from receptionist to stylist to manager during her first year at the company and at only 17 years old. She later worked at other salons in the area and moved to NYC for a year, quickly realizing salon management was her forte. She was soon picked up to work at Paul Mitchell The School San Diego.

At Paul Mitchell The School, she learned to be an educator and mentor, while also working behind the chair at a high-end salon. Between these two experiences, the magic truly began as all her skills came together. Lex became a top stylist, managed a team of 40, worked with two assistants and created an amazing education program as the Director of Education. She also started specializing in hair extensions. After 13 years, she decided to focus only on extensions and enrolled in NBR. After experiencing a third salon shutdown due to the Covid pandemic, Lex got a call from Candice Motley and moved to North Carolina to work and learn at Garnish Extension Studio, an extensions exclusive salon specializing in education. In the last year, she grew through the salon's program from assistant to stylist (the fastest to date) to salon manager and Director of Education. Her skills as a true extension specialist have grown to levels she has only dreamed of and she's not even close to being done learning yet!
