Stylist POV: Ethos® Unlimited with Jess Kebert

Jess Kebert has been a professional cosmetologist for a little more than six years, but a stylist at heart her whole life. She's also a Bohyme® Insider. Here she tells us her experience with our Ethos® Unlimited weft:

I was introduced to extensions five years ago and have been a Tight-Line certified stylist for more than three years and have used Bohyme® the entire time. I've played around with other makers, but just have never loved anything the way I love Bohyme®. I really enjoy being able to give my clients all of their hair wishes and using Bohyme® for my extensions just really offers me the range of colors and textures, while keeping the consistent quality that every head deserves.

I put the new Bohyme Ethos® Unlimited weft to the test on one of my favorite clients. When I became a stylist, it was to create happiness and a feeling of beauty on the inside as well as the outside for each of my clients. My client, Kristi, has struggled with the health of her hair for years. She has had some medical issues that wreaked havoc on it as well as the required medication doing more damage. Her hair wasn't the most important thing in her life, but it was totally affecting all aspects of her life.

That was three years ago. Flash forward to last month, Kristi had been wearing Bohyme® Luxe hair (I always install using the Tight-Line method, for anyone interested), but I was able to install one row of Ethos® Unlimited Silky Straight hair. The blend was GORGEOUS. The sleekness was AMAZING. The install was smooth and trouble-free.

I know, blah blah blah, right? You're all probably thinking, "tell me what you really noticed so I know what I'm going to pick for my clients."

The Unlimited weft is available in 18's and 22's and currently just Silky Straight. Price is similar to other Ethos® wefts, so it isn't even worth comparing.

So here are the specifics that I noticed:

Taking it out of the package was a similar experience to opening the hand tied or Genius wefts. The one thing I noticed right away while unrolling the weft was that the seam stuck together a little. A little extra "grip" might not be a bad thing, right? No one likes dropping a weft while sewing! (And I didn't have any slip with this installation, so maybe it does have that extra grip.)

This weft is cut-able any place along the length of the weft, which is longer than I am tall! The density of the hair is more than a Hand Tied weft, but less than a Genius weft, which to me makes it easier to blend with other colors. The height of the seam, however, is larger than the Genius weft so it could be more noticeable and harder to stack.

For those stylists who like to fold their wefts, the Ethos® Unlimited does fold nicely when working with one piece. I wouldn't fold two pieces together because I feel that wouldn't lay as nicely against the head. So, it can take some forethought, but it is more than doable to work several pieces onto a row.

For Kristi, I used three pieces (about the length of a normal hand-tied weft) of Ethos® Unlimited and two hand tied wefts for color blending purposes. The bulk at the row was extremely minimal. When checking in with her, she said she felt like she had much more hair, but didn't feel the same weight as before. She also added that her coworkers noticed the difference immediately!
