hungry to learn

“There are a couple things that truly motivate me. My family, my coworkers, and my clients. When I am not in the salon I am hanging out with my little family, I have a four year old son who is literally my main motivation. Everything I do is for him.
It’s easy to draw stay inspired when you work with other stylists who are just as hungry to learn. Salt and Waves is filled with amazing stylists who are always ready to learn the next new thing and we really feed off each others energy to get through the day. We are all each other’s biggest fans.
I view my clients as my prized possessions. Without them I wouldn’t have a career. To see a client so happy and hear them say “This is exactly what I wanted” is music to my ears.”

"Remember when your mom would get you all dolled up for holidays?
The pretty dresses, blush on the cheeks, gloss on your lips. When my mom got me dolled up I felt like I was on top of the world. Not a person in the world could take my confidence away. I wanted to become a stylist to help people find their confident inner child again."- Alexis V.

surrounded by successful women

Alexis has been surrounded by successful women in the industry her entire life. Her mom was a makeup artist for ten years and her best-friends mom has owned a salon in San Antonio, TX. Since the young age, she was spending lot of time at the salon, and one of her first jobs was at a front desk at this salon. After cosmetology school Alexis moved to Austin, TX and found Salt and Waves where she worked hardcore to be in the position she is in today.

”My start of my career looked a little different than most people. The global pandemic hit in the middle of my journey at cosmetology school. Months of my hands on experience were taken away from me bc I was completing my hours at home. I felt like my education was taken away from me. So as soon as I graduated I knew I needed to find a salon home that offered in house education program. That’s when I found Salt and Waves and completed their apprentice program. I knew that not only did I want to succeed behind the chair, I wanted to help others who were also robbed of some experiences as well. Thus started my educator journey. To this day I strive to give my clients a luxurious experience while educating my own apprentice.
